The secret is TeaWash, a unique finishing process-developed by Karastan to transform the lustrous colors of skein-dyed wool into a vintage patina. This is a quiet look that works well with almost any decorating style.
The design inspiration for the Samovar Collections comes from Persia and India. Persia was the source for many important carpets (and design influences) of the 16th and 17th centuries.
The master weavers of old worked with primitive dyes and available yarns. Within any given color section of a rug, there would naturally be slight variations in tone, all of which would soften over time. Intricate color placement by our master designers helps us recreate this subtle "abrash" effect. 100% Wool
